Attention: Ladies at Valpo!

Last Monday, on her way back from the Union, a resident of Alumni Hall was sexually assaulted outside of the Moellering Library. The man was wearing black clothes, gloves and a ski mask. The attack occured around 12:30. We've all been warned about the creeps in the neighborhood, but this was an attack ON CAMPUS, on a well-lit pathway. A friend told me about it -- the victim is a friend of hers. For your own safety, I would urge all of you to not walk alone after dark under any circumstances. If you don't have somebody to walk with, take the LAID Van. The attacker is still at large and several people have reported seeing a creepy guy around campus lately, so please take any precautions necessary.

We raise awareness, and this is the exact reason why the Vagina Monologues will continue to raise eyebrows over the years... until women are safe to be out alone, don't have to worry how they dress... we must continue to raise awareness about violence against women... it should not be tolerated

When did this happen?
I'm not trying to be a dick, but no one I know has heard of this. No females or males, and I work for The Torch, so we have a pretty good idea of what's going on on campus.

Sorry, it just seems like the University would issue a statement or something like it did at the beginning of the year.

Look, do you speak with every woman on campus? I doubt it. This happened to a friend of a friend who was warning me to be careful. Just because you don't know about it doesn't mean it didn't happen, even if you do work for the almight Torch. Who said she filed a police report? Who said she told anybody besides her friend, who then told me? Sorry to sound like a bitch, but this is a serious thing and I dare you to speak to the woman it happened to and tell her it didn't because you haven't heard about it.

By the way, it said 'Last Monday' so obviously that answers your time question, now doesn't it?

I didn't say it didn't happen. Look back at my post. You do sound like a bitch, and for no reason. I was just wondering. I mean, "a friend of a friend " isn't always the most reliable resource.

I guess you're not too sharp. The 'sorry I sound like a bitch' part was in reference to your sounding like a dick part, which, for the record, you did. You came off accusing and arrogant, like just because you work for the paper you know everything. It's not like it was a friend friend heard about some random person; this is somebody I know, somebody I've seen around campus, a flesh and blood person. You may not have outright said it didn't happen, but your skepticism/attitude said enough.

REGARDLESS of what I think, tell your friend to file a police report. Sexual assault is a serious matter, and it should be reported.

I did say it would be a good idea. Anyway, the point of this wasn't to get into a debate, it was simply to warn people to watch out because they could be next. No hard feelings.

In the past, yes, the University does issue a statement or at least an email that goes to all of campus.

I don't go to Valpo, but for the better of society, most men should be caged.

Oh, and women should carry cones with them. Seriously they do a lot of damage.

I live in Alumni Hall and my roomie told me that she rode the elevator with a cop last monday...early tuesday morn (she likes to talk on the phone with her friends til morning time, weird i know)...so it prolly got reported, but depending on what he did to the girl, i dont think valpo would want to freak out the school, i mean, they already have signs posted everywhere for a suspicious looking caucasion male around campus...some stories get blown out of proportion, not saying this one did, but if the guy did anything extremely wrong, everyone would know by now...maybe she was startled by someone doing a prank or some guy ran into her...those arent reasons to make the whole school panic...so you have to take some things into perspective...you dont know who's right...but it could have happened...and theres alo a possiblility that it didnt....the point is, just be more aware and cautious, this is nothing to fight about...just ladies keep your guard up...it prolly wont be in vain

Valpo issues reports when things like this happen. Not to "freak out the school," but to raise awarness, just like evilnel did. We most likely would have received an e-mail, or seen a flier, or something like that.

To add to that, it would not be an unusual case if it went unreported... many sexual assults remain unreported at Valpo. Sick and sad, but true.

CASE SOLVED.....I talked to a VUPD cop that came by to our room because of some random kid trying to break in or something(we think he was drunk and a lil confused as to which room was his, but thats besides the point)...i asked the VUPD about this case, and he verified that it was in fact non-existent, they found the "victim" and apparently her story was not the same as this one here...he said the case was done and nothing happened to the girl....so yeah....just thought yall should know....but no reason not to be safe anyways....
